Fadel and Hasrul Elected New BKSAP Leaders
Fadel Muhammad from Golkar Party Faction and Hasrul Azwar from United Development Party (PPP) Faction have been elected the new Deputy Chairpersons of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation (BKSAP). They were inaugurated by FadliZon, Vice Speaker of the Indonesian House, witnessed by Chairperson of BKSAP Nurhayati Ali Assegaf and her deputy Rofi’ Munawar.
After reading the House leaders’ decree on the change of BKSAP leadership at the BKSAP’s meeting room, the House complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, 25 July 2018, Fadli symbolically handed over the gavel to the newly elected BKSAP leaders.
Fadli said Fadel Muhammad replaced Siti Hediati Soeharto (a former Golkar Party Politician) who resigned from the legislative body and joined Berkarya Party, while Hasrul Azwar replaced Nurhayati Monoarfa who has recently been appointed Deputy Chairperson of the Household Committee.
Addressing during the event, the Gerindra Party politician hoped through the leadership change, BKSAP would be more active in establishing cooperation with other parliaments in the world. He added that BKSAP had to give real contributions in any parliamentary and world organization meetings.
“We are expecting BKSAP as a complementary body to develop, nurture, and promote friendly relations and cooperation between DPR RI and other parliaments,” he said.
For her part, Nurhayati called on BKSAP to do the best job possible to fulfill that mandate. “With the additional number of leaders, we could be more impeccable in fulfilling the mandate for the good of Indonesian people,” she said. (mh/sf-mut)
