In a move to support the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the Law No. 11 of 2020 on Job Creation, House Speaker, Dr. (H.C.) Puan Maharani confirmed that the House is ready to follow up with the ruling immediately.
“The House is committed to following up immediately the Constitutional Court’s ruling according to its constitutional authorities,” Puan explained in a press statement to Parlementaria, Tuesday (30/11/2021).
In response to the court’s order to revise the law in two years, Maharani said that the House will put it into a list of priority in the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) in 2022 . “Revision to the Job Creation Law must be made immediately and no later than the time limit to avoid the law from becoming permanently unconstitutional,” Maharani said.
Despite the court’s decision, Maharani appreciates President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s commitment to consistently guarantee the security and certainty to local and foreign investment. The commitment is deemed crucially essential because all parts of the Job Creation Law remain valid since the Constitutional Court revoked no single article for the next two years until the revision is made.
“We hope that this commitment will help maintain a conducive situation for the domestic investment environment that has shown signs of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” the politician of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle concluded. (ts/sf)
